The Beatles famously sang, “I get by with a little help from my friends”. What a beautiful sentiment, and who couldn’t use a good friend? Unfortunately, even the best of friends are not always enough to help you get through tough times. Feeling chronically stressed out, tired, worried, out of sync with loved ones, or a little lost in life sometimes requires specialized help. Working with a therapist who is kind, patient, and dependable (like a good friend) may be just the thing you have been looking for.
The most common issues I help with are low mood/depression, stress/anxiety, relational difficulties, and issues unique to men. I use evidence-based approaches like Mindful Self-Compassion to address the fallout of un-wellness and chart a more manageable way forward. We sort out together what you can change and help you accept what you can't. No matter what, I’ve always got your back.
Mindful Self-Compassion is the cornerstone of my practice for those who need more grounding and resilience in their lives (spoiler; that's most of us). A new skill of mindful self-compassion could allow you to savour the good in life without anxiety about the future, and thrive - not just survive - through adversity.
Often, we get stuck because of the stories we have told ourselves - about our worth, competence, un-wellness, etc. - but it doesn't have to play out like it has so far, or on some predetermined path. In our work together, we will examine patterns through your lifespan that have impact today, then work collaboratively to develop more helpful ways of managing the rigours of life. I'm here to offer hope that you can be the primary driver of your life and confidently write the next chapters of a life worth living.
I practice therapy as my authentic self. I am naturally empathic and compassionate, and I have found clients respond positively to my approach. Common feedback is that I am good at helping people feel heard, understood, and supported. I have a keen interest in counselling fellow creative types and young men seeking to find their way in an increasingly confusing and demanding world.
I believe you have more wisdom than you realize. I’m here to help you unlock it. Please reach out for a free consultation today.
Individual therapy is $125 + HST per session. Limited sliding scale availability. Please ask if you think you may qualify.
